Born in South Carolina, both parents died before he was 15.

Was poorly educated, but still became a successful frontier lawyer

Became the first Congressman from Tennessee and soon after became a Senator.
D.
Resigned from Senate and joined the military in 1801, led U.S. Army in many
Indian Wars in present day Florida, prior to his service in the War of 1812.
E.
Earned the nickname Old Hickory during Battle of New Orleans, his men claimed
he was "tough as Old Hickory Wood".
F.
Jackson was involved in over 100 duels, but died of natural causes with two
bullets in his body, one only two inches from his heart.
