The Holocaust

1.      Germanys occupation of much of western Europe put millions of additional jews, communists and a socials  in concentration camps

2.      Camps were set up in Germany but also in occupied areas of Germany as well

3.      Inmates were exploited for their labor, and families were split up

4.       Germans performed medical experiments on the Jews (TWIN TEST, NERVOUS SYSTEM, NEW DISEASES, ORGAN TRANSPLANTS)

5.       MADE SOAP, LAMP SHADES, AND WALLETS FROM HUMAN REMAINS

6.       1942-1945 CAMPS BEGAN LARGE SCALE KILLINGS (GASED, CREMATORY, BULLETS)

7.       RECORDS SHOW SOME “PROCESSED” 12,000 PEOPLE A DAY

8.       IS ESTIMATED THAT MORE THAN 6 MILLION PEOPLE DIED IN THE CAMPS

Germany is defeated

1.       September 1944 Allies crossed the German border, as the Germans launched their final counterattack

2.       Germany attacked 80,000 Allied troops with 200,000, however the Allies reinforced quickly and prevented a break in the line at the Battle of the Bulge.

3.       HITLER IS FORCED UNDERGROUND

4.       RECEIVES REPORTS OF MUSSOLINI’S DEATH AND DISFIGUREMENT

5.       APRIL 29, 1945 HITLER MARRIES GIRL FRIEND EVA BRAUM AND TEST POISON ON HIS DOG

6.       NEXT DAY-HITLER AND WIFE COMMIT SUICIDE

Japan is defeated

1.       U.S. took on strategy of Island Hopping, this meant that troops would attack and seize only certain strategic Japanese islands rather than trying to capture them all.

2.       The U.S. after giving themselves several strategic bases from which to launch their b-29 bombers against the Japanese home island.

3.       Their effort was to weaken the Japanese moral to the point where they would surrender, but the Military leaders refused.

4.       A new U.S. weapon was being developed under the top secret name of the Manhattan Project

5.       President Truman asked Japan for unconditional surrender, Japan refused

6.       NUCLEAR BOMB HAD BEEN TESTED IN NEW MEXICO

7.       COLONEL PAUL TIBETS IS ORDERED TO DROP THE BOMB OVER HIROSHIMA

8.       USED THE ENOLA GAY ON AUGUST 6, 1945 AT 9:15 a.m.

9.       BOMB EXPLODED AT 1900 ABOVE GROUND

10.    PEOPLE, TREES, AND BUILDINGS BURNED INSTANTLY

11.    PEOPLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE SWIMMING IN RIVER

12.    SOLDIERS’ HELMETS WERE FOUND CONTAING MELTED HUMAN REMAINS

13.    4 SQUARE MILES WERE LEVELED

14.    80,000 PEOPLE DIED INSTANTLY

15.    SEVERAL THOUSAND DIED UP TO 50 YEARS LATER FROM RADIATION POISONING

16.    AUGUST 9, 1945-NAGASAKI IS BOMBED ALSO

17.    AUGUST 14, 1945-JAPAN SURRENDERS
