The Government of Madero

 

  1. Following Madero’s call for revolution Diaz began to slowly lose control of Mexico, and his government began to fall apart.
  2. On May 21, 1911 Madero and Diaz signed the Treaty of Ciudad Juarez
    1. Stated that Diaz would step down as President of Mexico, and allow for a free election
    2. Madero won the election overwhelmingly.
  3. Madero established a democratic government and received support from the U.S. as well as revolutionary leaders such as Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa.
  4. Madero was however a very weak leader and quickly lost support while in powe
    1. He refused to give land and social reforms to the people as he had promised, which angered his supporters and they began to break away
  5. His time as leader was short lived; his appointed commander in chief Victoriano Huerta staged a coup.
    1. Madero was forced to resign
    2. Less than a week later both Madero and his Vice-President Pino Suarez were executed by Huerta’s new government.

Your assingment today:   The Spanish American war took place in 1898 and lasted less than a year. Research the Spanish American War explaining why it was fought, where is was fought,  (it was fought in many places) and what were the results of the conflict. You should also cite your resources and you must use more than one.  This assignment should be hand written, and should be approximatley 1 to 2 pages, don't give me garbage. Turn in what you have at the end of the period, done or not so I can see how much work you accomplished. Act right and work hard!
